Apr 16 & 17 - NASA - Thunderhill

This was a pretty quiet weekend, all things considered. Like other weekends, I ran the Group C races, as well as going out in Time Trials (TT). There were no major accidents or anything that interesting, and I felt I did fairly well (against my own previous runs here).

During Sunday's race, I got to play with an orange Miata, which was fun. He started behind me, but a short while later was able to push me to the outside in T14/T15, so he was able to pass. But really, I had been faster than he was, so I waited for an opportunity to return the favor. Just after he passes me, I also get passed by another Miata (#27) whose car is faster than mine and he's also a good driver. Note the difference. The Orange car is about the same speed as mine, but over time, I out drive him. Once they both pass me, #27 waits for an opportunity.

After about 3/4 of a lap. I get an opportunity in T9. T9 is one of my better turns, if I do it well. Working in my favor is that #27 goes inside in T9, forcing him out a little which costs him speed. I use my good run into T9 and his slight reduction in speed to make the pass.

He hangs on well for about a lap, but as you can see, when we get to T9 again, I open up a little distance. But his real problem seems to be that he doesn't handle traffic well. By T14/T15, a Thunder Roadster has overtaken him, and there are a couple of cars right behind him. As soon as we're on the main straight, they also pass him and by the time I reach the end of the straight, He is way behind at that point and he keeps fading into the distance as more traffic passes him.
