Bad News From The Mechanic

My mechanic called me the next morning, and said the car wouldn't start. So, he ran a compression test and the cylinders were reading: 1= 60, 2= 40, 3= 100, 4= 180. Basically, the overheat had warped the head.

So, we pulled the head,

and then found minor damage to the pistons. On the right, it looked like valve contact with the piston. Unfortunately, we couldn't tell if it was old damage (before the last rebuild) or from this. The one on the right was clearer, though. The piston had contacted the head, although that might have been from the fact that the head was warped (.015 in).

The question now was: rebuild just the head, or do the bottom end as well while the motor was apart.

Decisions... decisions...

(as of this writing, I was still deciding.)
